Pollsar offers 19 question types grouped into four categories, plus two structural elements (Group and Finish page, described in a separate article).
Below is a description of each type with its key settings.
A binary question with two preset answer options. Four wording pairs are available: Yes/No, True/False, Agree/Dismiss, Like/Dislike. The wordings are automatically localized depending on the survey language.
A single-choice question — the respondent selects one option from a list. The author creates any number of answer options. An illustration can be added to each option.
Three display modes: Wide (full-width rows), Grid (tile cards), and Drop-down (dropdown list). A separate display mode is available for illustrations in answer options. Additional settings: answer randomization, alphabetical sorting, and an Other option with free text input.
A multiple-choice question — the respondent can select several options. Settings, display modes, and illustration handling are identical to Single choice.
A matrix question — the respondent selects one answer option for each thesis. Suitable for evaluating multiple aspects on a single scale. An illustration can be added to each thesis.
Two display modes: Table (matrix table) and List (lists, always used on mobile). Additional settings: thesis randomization, answer randomization.
Similar to Single matrix, but the respondent can select multiple answer options for each thesis. Settings and display modes are identical to Single matrix.
A standard loyalty scale from 0 to 10. The respondent selects one value on the scale. The author can set explanatory labels at the low and high ends of the scale. Two button styles: round or square.
Rating of a single object on an icon scale. 16 icon variants are available: star, heart, flag, trophy, fire, and others. Maximum scale value: 3, 5, 7, or 10.
Rating of multiple items on an icon scale. Each item can have its own icon type. Scale settings are the same as Rating.
A quick evaluation through three preset emotions represented as smiley icons: negative (Bad), neutral (Ok), and positive (Great). The scale is fixed and not configurable.
The respondent arranges answer options in order of priority. Two modes: Drag (dragging rows) and Grid (assigning positions via buttons). Available settings: answer randomization, alphabetical sorting.
A slider for selecting a numeric value from a given range. Configurable: minimum and maximum value, step. Additional option — Range mode: a double slider for setting a range (e.g., from and to).
A numeric field with −/+ buttons. Configurable: minimum and maximum value, step.
A field for free text input. Two modes: String (single-line field) and Story (multi-line field).
A field for entering an email address with automatic format validation.
A field for entering a phone number. The respondent selects a country with its country code from a list and enters the number.
A field for entering a physical address with a configurable level of detail: country only, country + region, or country + region + city.
A field for selecting a date. Two modes: Grid (classic calendar) and Drop-down (three dropdown lists: day, month, year).
File upload by the respondent. The author creates a list of upload slots, specifying the file type for each: image, PDF, or any type. Two display modes: Wide (rows) and Grid (cards).
An informational text block. It is not a question and does not require a response. Used to convey information, context, or explanations to the respondent. Supports rich text formatting: bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, color highlighting, links, and variable insertion. Like other question types, it can contain illustrations.
